Yarm Sports and
Physiotherapy Clinic
"High quality service assured, makes you feel great again"

Ayla Oatway, BSc

After graduating from Teesside University in 2020 with good honours (2:1), I have joined Yarm Sport and Physio Clinic with particular interest in shoulder injuries after seeing many of these during my time at university. Shoulder injuries have become a particular interest for me due to their complexity and need for routine to rehabilitate them. Lower back pain is also a major interest for me as it can inhibit so many people from living a normal life.

During my time at University I was a part of the Sports Injury clinic examining other students and staff that were experiencing injuries due to sports or work. I was also a first aider for the Middlesbrough Football Club first team matches, this was an amazing experience being able to tend to the first team players on match-day. In my final year at university I completed my clinical placement with a private sports injury clinic. I was provided with an exceptional amount of knowledge and new skills which I was able to implement into my own assessments and treatments.

The reason I pursued becoming a sports therapist is down to my interest in sports and having a fascination with the ways that the body works. Also, it is down to the fact that I myself have lived my entire life through sport. From a young age I was competing in regional running and swimming competitions. Swimming is more so my sport now as I enjoy it as a way to relax and exercise in my spare time. I am also a swimming teacher and have been for the last 2 years, this is something that I find extremely rewarding seeing children grow in confidence in water. In my spare time I enjoy watching sports whether it be football, swimming or athletics and also going on walks locally and in the Lake District.
